Meet your doula, Abby
hi, I’m Abby!
I am a wife, mother and doula serving Lawrence, KS and surrounding communities. I graduated from the University of Kansas in 2018 and spent two years working as a SPED para with children with multiple disabilities. My passion has always been to serve people. I’ve had an interest in birth work since I was young with my original dreams of being and OBGYN! Those dreams shifted to being a Labor and Deliver Nurse and finally to being a doula. I feel that as a doula I am able to make longer deeper connections with my clients and their families.
I trained as a postpartum doula in the fall of 2021 and as a birth and bereavement doula in the spring of 2022. I also took on my first postpartum client in the spring of 2022. Since then, I have supported many families through their fourth trimester and beyond. In my work, I have had the honor of supporting families through miscarriage and loss as well, something that I have a heart for as it is also a part of my own story.
my family
My husband and I met in the summer of 2016 when we attended a summer missions program in Jacksonville, FL together. He attended the University of Central Missouri, graduating in May of 2017 with two degrees in Criminal Justice and Crisis and Disaster Management. He joined me in Lawrence, KS for my final semester at KU when he was hired on at the university’s public safety office. We had a short 4 month engagement before getting married in February 2019. We lived in a tiny little apartment that first year of marriage before saving up to buy our first home just before our little girl arrived. In January of 2020, we found out we were pregnant with our double rainbow baby who arrived in October. That year, I also unexpectedly became a full time stay at home mom which then sparked my passion for homemaking. I love cooking, cleaning and mothering, which lends itself really well into my work.
